Ringmaster Akhilesh or Mulayam?

A question is doing rounds in Lucknow — who is calling the shots in the Samajwadi Party Government? Is it Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav or his father Mulayam Singh Yadav? Some say it is the senior Yadav who is controlling the reigns. Others maintain it is the junior Yadav calling the shots. But a majority is of the view that Mulayam Singh has the remote control to the Government functioning. A party insider said: “Akhilesh is a novice and still learning the tricks of the trade. Therefore, he is following the directions given by his father, Mulayam Singh. Perhaps Akhilesh will take control once he has got the political know-how.”

A senior Cabinet Minister in the Akhilesh Yadav ministry is working overtime. A seasoned politician, he is once again trying to show his clout in the new setup. Recently, the Minister raided a Primary Health Centre in Rampur and found that the doctor on duty was absent. The Minister was angry and immediately ordered the staff to trace the doctor. Doctor’s bunking duty is not a new feature for the staff. The doctor was finally found but guess where? Well, attending to patients at his wife’s clinic.
