Anupam Kher appointed FTII chairman

In a development that has been widely welcomed by prominent personalities in Bollywood, Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Wednesday appointed veteran actor Anupam Kher as chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.

Kher, 62, succeeds Television actor Gajendra Chauhan, whose appointment as the FTII chairman had resulted in unrest among the students in the Pune-based film institute in June 2015. Chauhan’s two-year term ended in March this year. Kher tweeted, “I feel deeply humbled & honoured.”
