Chhattisgarh Minister for Industries, Commerce and Labour Lakhan Lal Dewangan on Monday wrote letters to public sector undertakings (PSUs) in the industrial city of Korba and sought details about recruitment of locals in the plants.
He stated that there were several complaints were raised that private contractual companies were appointing outsiders instead of the local unemployed.
As per the industrial policy of Chhattisgarh, industries in the state have to recruit 70 percent of locals for the plant, he said.
The Minister asked the Chief General Managers of SECL’s Korba, Gewra and Deepka unit, and the General Managers of BALCO, NTPC and Indian Oil Corp to furnish details of local recruitment by private contractual companies in their respective units.
He said the details have to be submitted within a week.
