CM clears Halon, Upper Narmada projects

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired the 43rd meeting of Narmada Control Board here on Monday. At the meeting, two major irrigation projects including Halon Project and Upper Narmada Irrigation Project were sanctioned. These irrigation projects in tribal-dominant districts Mandla and Anuppur will irrigate about 31 thousand hectare area. Halon Irrigation Project’s cost is Rs 278.96 crore and that of Upper Narmada Irrigation Project Rs 636.80 crore.

At the meeting, Chouhan directed that work of these irrigation projects should be completed within the prescribed time-limit. Under Halon Irrigation Project, a 293 metre long and 21 metre high dam will be constructed over Halon River near village Karanjiya in Mandla district, which will irrigate 13,040 hectare area. Under Upper Narmada Irrigation Project, a 2,240 metre long and 33 metre high dam will be constructed near village Shobhapur in Dindori district, which will irrigate 18,616 hectare area in Dindori and Anuppur districts.

Finance Minister Raghavji, Water Resources Minister Jayant Malaiya, Forest Minister Sartaj Singh, Public Works Minister Nagendra Singh, Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma, Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development Kanhaiyalal Agrawal, Chief Secretary R Parasuram, Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Rajneesh Vaish, Principal Secretary Finance Ajay Nath, Principal Secretary Water Resources RS Julaniya and members of the board participated the meeting.

Teerth Darshan train to leave on March 19

Bhopal: A train under Mukhyamantri Teerth-Darshan Yojana will leave Burhanpur for Jagannath Puri on March 19. The train will return on March 24. It will carry 123 pilgrims from Burhanpur district, 218 from Khandwa, 231 from Barwani, 312 from Khargone and 94 pilgrims from Harda district.

Chhote Singh appointed Dy Secretary in Mantralaya

Bhopal: The State Government has posted State Administrative Service officer Chhote Singh as Deputy Secretary in Mantralaya. At present, Singh is posted as Additional Director in the Directorate of Higher Education.

5 forest officials transferred

Bhopal: The State Government has issued orders for new postings of 5 Indian Forest Service officers. Accordingly, Deputy Director (Buffer), Kanha National Park Mandla, OP Tiwari has been posted as Deputy Director (Core), Kanha National Park, Divisional Forest Officer Sendhwa forest division PS Masram as Deputy Director (Buffer), Kanha National Park Mandla, Divisional Forest Officer North Balaghat forest division DC Gupta as Deputy Director, Bandhavgarh National Park Umaria, Divisional Manager, National Forest Development Corporation lamta Project, Balaghat HP Jharia as Divisional Forest Officer North Balaghat forest division and Divisional Forest Officer Ichhawar forest division Ajay Kumar Pandey has been posted as DFO, Sendhwa forest division.

Photo exhibition of historic political events

Bhopal: Exhibition titled “Madhya Pradesh Ki Bhutpurva Riyasaten” (Madhya Pradesh’s Erstwhile States) will be held by Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museums at State Museum, Shyamla Hills, Bhopal from March 19 to 26. Culture Minister laxmikant Sharma will inaugurate the exhibition of rare records and photographs on March 19 at 5 pm. Glimpse of erstwhile princely states of Madhya Pradesh will be seen at the exhibition. Historic archives pertaining to the then political events, administrative decisions and other issues will be displayed at the exhibition. The exhibition will remain open from 12 noon to 7 pm daily. Entry is free.

Hindi essay, speech competition held at BHEl

Bhopal: A prize distribution ceremony of Hindi and Productivity Competitions for the year 2012-13 was held under the aegis of modernization division at BHEl Bhopal. R Krishnamurthy GM, Finance and TG Chauragade GM, MOD were present as the Chief Guests on this occasion. An essay writing and speech competition on a number of topics such as ways to enhance the prevalent working process, modernization of BHEl, Bhopal, and ways to increase productivity was conducted. The notion behind the Competition was to inculcate a sense of vision among the employees towards progress of the organization there by asking suggestions from the employees.

Krishnamurthy speaking on this occasion appreciated the initiatives of modernization division for conducting a program of such noble nature. He further praised the division for selecting topics of magnificent values. The role of native language of any country is of paramount importance in increasing the productivity trend of any country as it helps in delivery of duties more effectively and efficiently.

Chauragade urged the gathering to enhance the use of Hindi in daily work as it helps in efficient working. Ashok Pippal, Rakesh Sharma and Nitin Khatri educated the gathering about various programs run by Modernization division BHEl, Bhopal.

Conference on Food Processing Sector

Bhopal: PHD Chamber of Commerce will organise a one day conference on ‘Future Skill needs in Food Processing Sector’ on March 23 at Hotel Courtyard Marriot, Bhopal.

Minister for Commerce and Industries, Employment, IT, Science and Technology, Horticulture and Food Processing, Kailash Vijayvargiya; Minister for Technical Education, laxmikant Sharma; Additional Chief Secretary, Technical Education Department,  Ajita Bajpai Pandey; Additional Chief Secretary, Agri Production, MM Upadhyay and Chairman MP Agro Industries Development Corporation, Ramkishan Chauhan will grace the conference.

RG Dwivedi, Regional Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce in a press release informed that eminent professionals and experts from the Agri and Food Processing Sectors, industrialists and Government officials shall be addressing the participants at the conference. Representatives from Food Processing & allied industries such as Fruits and vegetables, Dairy, Meat and poultry, Alcoholic beverage, Non-alcoholic beverages, Bakery and Confectionary, Fish and marine, Ready to eat, Spices, Tea and Coffee, Food safety, testing, Food ingredients, Edible oil, Others; Infrastructure and equipment providers, consultants, professionals, training institutes and other stakeholders are invited to attend the conference.

BU courses lagging behind by 3 months 

Bhopal: Despite having reprimanded by the Higher Education department, the Barkatullah University (BU) is still not following the academic calendar. BU courses are running late by over three months, the examinations which were conducted in January should have been conducted in November. In January, DHE Commissioner VS Niranjan had questioned BU Registrar Sanjay Tiwari of the delay in the examinations during a meeting and the Registrar had assured that the examination schedule for the second, fourth and sixth semester examinations will be declared within a week, but no schedule has been declared till date. Except BU, all other universities in the State have complied with the academic calendar. According to sources, first semester syllabus in most of the colleges under BU were completed in December only, but the examination schedules were not declared to benefit the offline admitted students as their matter was in court.

BU Registrar Sanjay Tiwari said that the examination results are being declared at the earliest possible and the second, fourth and sixth semester examinations will be organized on time.

Centralised registration generates Rs13 Cr revenue

Bhopal: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Nagendra Singh gave away the 10,000th certificate under contractors’ centralised registration system in the department here on Monday. He completed this process online. Through it, information of registration reached as SMS to representative of Garg Sons Estate Promoters Private limited, Chandigarh. Principal Secretary KK Singh and Engineer-in-Chief Akhilesh Agrawal were also present on the occasion. Revenue worth about Rs 13.36 crore has been received through centralised registration so far. A sum of Rs 275.38 crore is deposited in security deposit fund. It is noteworthy that arrangement for online registration in the department was started on June 17, 2011. Under the arrangement, a contractor can apply online for getting registered. Through the process, 9751 contractors of Madhya Pradesh and 249 of others states have been registered so far. They include 456 ‘A’ category contractors of the state, 795 B category and 8501 contractors of C category.
