Swagatam laxmi Yojana' is being launched to make people accept girls respectfully before and after birth, end misgivings and evil practices pertaining to girls and women, end discrimination against them at every level, ensure efforts to strengthen status of women and girls in society, maintain women's respect everywhere and create a respectable, positive thinking and atmosphere of equality for women.
The scheme will be launched by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on January 24 at Ravindra Bhavan. Target groups of the scheme are embryo in mother's womb, newly born girls, every girl going to school/college, school/college students, domestic women helps/ woman labourers, women working in various government/private institutions, offices etc. male community, all public representatives of Panchayats, urban bodies etc and various communities, committees and parties.
Major components of the scheme are Swagatam, behavioral change and capacity building. Under Swagatam, efforts will be undertaken to accept girls and women at every level and State welcoming their dignity and respect. Under behavioral change, efforts will be made to change people's mindset towards women and under capacity building, efforts will be made to associate women and men to inculcate capacity building in girls and women to prevent misbehaviour and violence against them. Convergence of the scheme will be done at various levels for its better implementation.
In all, the scheme's implementation will bring about positive thinking towards women and girls in society. Women will get equal status and their dignity and respect will be established.
