Ex-IITians impart online lessons to Navodaya students

The students of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidhyalaya (RGNV) here are getting lessons for cracking engineering and medical entrance examinations from ex-Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) graduates. One of the top online coaching company of the country ‘askIITians’ is providing this facility in the school.

The NOIDA (UP) based company entered into a tie up with the State Government and on October 9, 2013 a pilot project titled “Online Teaching and Interactive Distance learning Mode” was started in the Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidhyalaya located in the Raipur block of Dehradun. The school is the only school in the State where this facility is being provided.

The RGNV is a residential school where bright students of the rural areas are enrolled and are provided best teaching environment. These students get free of cost education, boarding and lodging facility. Giving details of the project, RP Bamola, the Principal of the school told The Pioneer that 150 students of the school are getting the benefit of the online teaching in evening after the school is over.

The school has specially designed a hall for the E class in which projector, high speed internet, web camera and mikes are provided. The teaching module includes coaching for the internal examinations of school, board exams and for medical and engineering entrances.

Ashish Mohan, the Manager operations of the company said that the faculty of subject concerned gives lecture on the given topic from a special studio in the head office of the company; the students listen and understand this lecture on the big screen in their school. The lecture is of 90 minutes and it is followed by doubt removal session in which the students ask questions and the faculty clears their doubts.

The online institute also take regular assessment of the students and even advices students to take Medical stream or Engineering one. Mahesh Pandey, the Maths teacher of school informed The Pioneer that there has been a marked improvement in the students due to the on line coaching and he was sure that this would be reflected in the results.

The students are also happy with the on line coaching concept. Nitesh Rana a class X student of the school said that he and his class mates are now confident of scoring very good marks in the board examinations as best faculty is giving lectures to them and also removing their doubts.
