National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Mamata Sharma inaugurated a ‘Women’s Rights Stall’ near Badasankha at Puri on Wednesday evening.
She said the NCW stall during the famous Rath Yatra last year had been a big success and it would continue its presence in all ensuing years. The stall is set up on the initiative of head of ‘Honour for Women’ national campaign and recipient of Stree Shakti Puraskar 2013 Manasi Pradhan. later, audiovisual shows depicting the role of the NCW in empowering women were displayed for thousands of visitors. Besides, several other events on women’s rights including women’s rights talk, poetry recitation, women’s rights quiz and debates have been lined up at the stall. Visitors can also file their cases for the court of the NCW at the stall, which last year had received 172 cases. The stall would be attended by several dignitaries on different days, said a Press release issued by the NCW on Thursday.
