Sarada Nayak to get Jayadev Award

lyricist and film director Sarada Prasanna Nayak would be honoured with the coveted Jayadev Award for the year of 2013 for his contribution to the Odia film industry.

Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda made the announcement while releasing the names of awardees for the 25th Odisha State award for films and second Odisha State Tele Awards here on Thursday.

Instituted by the State Government, the Sri Jayadev Award carries a cash prize of Rsone lakh, a certificate of honour and a shawl.

The second most prestigious honour of the State Film Award, the Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami Award would be given to the highly-appreciated movie Salabudha which has been selected for the Indian Panorama category in the 44th edition of the International Film Festival to be held in Goa from November 20.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs50,000 and a certificate of honour to the producer. Salabudha, an artistic movie, won awards in seven categories of the film. Its director Sabyasachi Mohapatra would get best director of the year award, while its lead actor Atal Bihari Panda was chosen as the best actor.

Besides, the film bagged best music director (Ghasiram Mishra, Pankaj Jal), best art director (Kunu Bez) and best costume designer (Bhagwan Suresh). Archita Sahu has been chosen as the best Odia actress for her role in film ACP Sagarika, while ‘Superstar’ got the best story award.

Similarly Ratikanta Satpathy was chosen the best play back singer for Rumuku Jhumana, Ira Mohanty best play back singer (female) for Mu Raja tu Rani, Jiten Mohanty best lyricist for Sapanara Nayika and Barada Prasana Tripathy for best photography for Super star.

Ashok Das (Bachelor) won the best supporting actor, Sadhana Parija (Rumuku Jhumuna) best supporting actress, Antarayami Panda (Gadagada) best comedian, Bhumika Das (Rumuku Jhumana) best child artist and Upendra Panda (Dharma) for best sound recordist award.

‘Ahya Sulakhayani’ an Odia tele serial produced by Kali Prasad Mishra was chosen as the best Odia teleserial. Minister Panda said while the award for the Odia films would be presented to the awardees at a function to be held on November 21, the tele awards would distributed the next day.
