Ratlam residents Hussain Indori and Fatima Indori had come to the State capital ten months ago with a hope on their 8 years old son Abdul Qadir, which has been fulfilled. On their request, the State Government has extended assistance to affix artificial hands to their son. On late November 17 Abdul Qadir  cut cake of his 8th birth anniversary with artificial hands.

The boy who had come to enjoy summer vacation to a relative in Mulla Colony, Berasia Road, Bhopal in May 2014 had lost both his hands due to coming into contact with a high tension power line. Thereafter Abdul was under treatment in Mumbai for 2-3 months. The doctors decided to amputate both his hands to save life. This put the family in a quandary about future life and education of Abdul Qadir. Expenditure of affixing artificial hands was too steep.

Parents of Abdul Qadir gave an account of the boy’s difficulties during Chief Secretary Anthony DeSa’s weekly meeting on January 15, 2015 and urged him to provide Government’s assistance for affixing artificial hands. The issue also came to the notice of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Health Department was directed to ensure action immediately.

On the initiative of the Chief Minister, Rs 13 lakh was sanctioned by the state cabinet for his treatment. Abdul Qadir was sent to a New Delhi hospital for getting artificial hand affixed. With fixing of special jacket at the cost of about Rs 13 lakh in August, Adbul Qadir can do necessary works easily. His interest in swimming is also being fulfilled though he has to remove artificial jacket at the time of swimming. Abdul Qadir's parents have expressed gratitude towards State Government due to assistance of which smile has returned to face of their son.
