To repair and revive Badkhal and Surajkund lakes in district Faridabad and Damdama lake in district Gurgaon, the Haryana Government has decided to chalk out a plan in this regard.
The State Government has directed senior officers of Tourism and Irrigation Departments to study the report prepared by experts for this purpose and submit their report within 15 days.
Directions to this effect were issued by Chief Secretary DS Dhesi, who was presiding over an inter-departmental meeting held here for revival of Badkhal, Surajkund and Damdama lakes.
These lakes, which were significant tourism destinations, had dried up due to different reasons. Therefore, it is planned to restore these lakes with a view to maintain ecological balance, said an official spokesman.
The spokesman said that the Government has planned rejuvenation of Badkhal lake reusing waste water from decentralised Sewage Treatment Plants, smart metering, SCADA-based monitoring of flow, Automated Online Water Quality Monitoring System, wastewater recycling, rehabilitation of sewerage network infrastructure, rainwater harvesting and storm water use of public buildings
The Chief Minister Manohar lal had recently asked the senior officials to explore possibilities for bringing water to the Badkhal lake.
