Tuesday, 27 September 2016 | PNS | Dehradun

The Governor gave charge of VC to the Dean of University, J Kumar for a period of six months or till appointment of a new VC.  Kumar incidentally was working as officiating VC since August 24.

Reacting on the development, the Vice President of the Pantnagar University Teachers’ Association, Dr Ajit Karnatak said that the university teachers wanted that Dr Rai should have continued to work. “We never asked for his resignation, in fact we wanted him to continue working, Our major demand was benefit of pension to those working I research projects,’’ he said.

An eminent agriculture scientist Dr Rai joined the post of VC of the oldest and most prestigious agricultural university of country in March 2015. Annoyed by the agitation of teachers, Dr Rai tendered his resignation on September 21.
