The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to install biometric attendance recorder machines in its offices to ensure that all its employees reach office in time. The machines are based on ‘Aadhaar Authentication’ (fingerprint and iris-based validation).

The biometric attendance recorder considered as an important step towards streamlining the attendance of employees the BMC would install it for all of its officers, employees and sanitary workers across its offices in the city. Details of all officers and employees of the Corporation would be synchronised with the machines along with their Aadhaar number. To enable the implementation of the e-attendance project, all employees of the Corporation are required to obtain Aadhaar cards.

BMC Deputy Commissioner Harish Kumar Gupta while talking to The Pioneer said, “Biometric Attendance Machines have been bought and the work of linking employees’ Aadhar number with it is going on. Once the process get completes machines would start getting installed in our various offices.”

Gupta further said that due to large number of employees Aadhar number linking would take some time but the BMC deputy commissioner was sure that within next couple of months the process would get completed and all the offices of the Corporation would be lased with biometric attendance machines.

He said that the Aadhar number linking process is going on department wise and the biometric machines would also be installed department wise. The machines would be installed and start functioning in those departments where all employees Aadhar number would be linked with it and hoped that the process would be completed by and large till June end, he added.

As the machines are Aadhaar enabled, supervisory officers can get the attendance details of employees easily. A centralised monitoring facility would also be created. Besides, the system would enable the personnel department to maintain the attendance records of employees in a more efficient and transparent way, he pointed out.
