Haryana Govt to re-engage retired teachers

Faced with an acute shortage of teachers in the schools, Haryana Government has decided to re-engage retired teachers in the state.

At present, the education system is suffering due to the shortage of about 22,000 teachers including 15,000 Post Graduate Teachers and 7,000 Trained Graduate Teachers in Haryana schools.  However, the State Government hoped that about 5,000 retired teaches would be engaged in the government schools to improve the education scenario.

In this regard, Haryana Government on Wednesday launched a portal “http:dsehry.in/RE” developed by School Education Department for re-engagement of retired teachers in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary, School Education, PK Das said that strenuous effort are being made to fill up teachers’ vacancies in various categories through regular recruitment yet there is shortage of about 22,000 teachers in Haryana.

He expressed hope that about 5,000 retired teaches would be engaged through the portal in the government schools.

Das said that retired teachers below the age of 65 years from Haryana Government, other State Government and privately managed schools could apply on the portal.

He said that said that re-engagement of retired teachers in government schools would help in providing quality education to the students in the state.

Giving details about digital platform, Das said that it would make the engagement process of retired teachers easy, transparent and hassle-free. The retired teachers below the age of 65 years from Haryana government, other state government and privately managed schools required to register themselves on the portal, and fill up their choices of schools in order of merit in the district of their choice.

The vacancy position would be displayed on the portal so as to enable them to get the present status of vacancies. This would help to make available a panel of retired teachers thus making available teachers throughout the year, he said.

Das said that retired teachers would be given remuneration according to the State Government’s re-employment policy.

He added that the Education Department would soon start the online process for transfer of teachers for this year.
