Jyotishmati proves boon for the paralytic stroke patient

Wednesday, 13 December 2017 | RADHIKA NAGRATH | Haridwar

Manish Tiwari, 22, from Kanpur was unable to speak or  walk unassisted following a paralytic stroke he suffered about a year ago. After outer application and oral intake of oil made of a wonder herb called Jyotishmati (botanical name Celastrus), he is now able to speak and walk, he claimed.

The Ayurved practitioners say that ‘Malkangni’ herb oil as it is called is well-  known in Ayurveda for ages  as a stimulator of nerves. Its reference is found in Ayurvedic scriptures in the form of verses, they say. They further claim that it is very useful during the winter season as human blood vessels shrink and blood circulation weakens around this time,  resulting in chances of  brain stroke and paralysis.  On the basis of a study on extraction of oil from  the seeds of Malkangni oil,  a researcher from IIT Delhi S N Naik claims that  the oil if applied on paralytic patient for one year regularly can help him regain movements of the paralytic organs of the body.  After doing further study, the scientists working at Patanjali Herbal Park claim that the nanoparticles of the oil help its  faster absorption in the human body. Malkangni sharpens the memory as it is a powerful stimulant for neuromuscular system and it is used for treatment of leprosy and paralysis, they say.

Blood clotting resulting from people taking less water during the winter is a major reason behind the paralytic attacks, say those well-versed in what they claim the science of Ayurveda. According to them,  the metabolism of body being quite high during the winter, the people need more oxygen than normal, which cumulatively increases the pressure on the heart and  the brain.

“We have converted the solvent extract of Malkangni seed for outer application. The oil is also filled in capsule for oral intake,” says the head of extraction unit at Patanjali Food and Herbal Park, R S Shukla. Highlighting the benefits of Malkangni, Shuka says, “In Sanskrit, this herb is also known as ‘Jyotishmati’ while in China it is called ‘deng you teng’. This Ayurvedic herbal medicine is full of benefits. During the winter, when the body cells are not properly active our immune system weakens, making the body vulnerable to infection.  A capsule of Malkangani oil taken daily gives energy to the neurons in the body.”

Explaining how the nanoparticle works, Shukla says, “When converted into the nanoparticles, the oil diameter matches with the size of the skin pores and absorption improves, resulting in faster results  on the paralytic patients.”

When asked about the availability of the seed, he said that it is very cheap and easily available across India, particularly in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. “The herbs collected from Uttarakhand are the best since here the pollution is less as compared to other parts of the country,” he said.
