Punjab Government has decided to establish two Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) hospitals with the capacity of 50 beds each under AYUSH mission scheme.
The standardise health services of indoor and outdoor of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy would also be provided in these hospitals.
“The construction of AYUSH hospitals would soon be initiated by state government with the cost of Rs 12.5 crore,” said the state Health and Family Welfare Minister Brahm Mohindra on Wednesday.
Minister said that with the tireless efforts of officials, the Punjab Government is all set to start Thalassemia Treatment Centre of Ayuveda at ludhiana and Rs 36 lakhs have been sanctioned to establish the same.
Mohindra said that to provide treatment services of thalassemia in Punjab, a special training had been imparted to seven AMOs (Ayurveda Medical Officers) at Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and now, thalassemia patients would soon be getting Ayurvedic treatment at the ludhiana Centre.
“Currently 463 rural and 47 urban government Ayurveda dispensaries, 17 Swasth Kendras, five Ayurveda hospitals, one Panchkarma centre, one Yoga and Naturopathy Unit at Mohali and a Drug Testing laboratory under central scheme at Patiala are already functioning in the State,” he said.
