Competition in paint & decoration

Berger Paints India Ltd has associated with Paints and Coatings Skill Council and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to train six regional champions from the India Skills Competition in the painting and decorating category. The champions are from Kerala, Chandigarh, Haryana and Bihar.

The India Skills competition was organised in Delhi from October 2-5, 2018. The winner was Priya Gaira from Chandigarh, Sahil Kapil also from Chandigarh was the runner up and Kartavya Saini from Haryana was placed third. The first two will represent India in the Paint and Decorating category in the world skills competition to be held in Kazan, Russia in 2019.

The company will also train the winners, help in upscaling their skills, and prepare them for World Skills Competition. The company came forward with an objective to promote young talents of the nation by not only honing their skills but also amplifying their employment quotient. The training classes were organised at Karigari Bhawan in Kolkata.

The NSDC organises the lndia Skills competition every two years in association with state governments and industries. This year more than 400 young talents across 27 States and Union Territories competed in 46 skills, 10 traditional skills and four demo skills.

Abhijit Roy, MD & CEO of Berger Paints India Limited said: “The idea behind such an association is to encourage the youth  and provide platforms to represent skills along with raising employment quotient.’
