A unique book of original drawings that draws on social and political life in India and abroad is going to be released at Open Air Gallery at Triveni Kala Sangam on Saturday at 4 pm. The book Manus by painter Soumen Bhowmick with 726 drawings is a graphic documentary of the contemporary time. The unsettling drawings, as described by Art historian Johny ML, are commentary on social and political issues depicting all human angst and emotions. The painter has drawn from themes like social unrest, Syrian war, global migration, farmer's suicide, rape of women and children, and religious persecution taking place in different parts of the world. According to the painter, who is a Delhi College of Art alumnus, the pages of Manus are full of characters that he observed and visualized while sitting around Triveni Kala Sangam. The book with printed originals in actual size is as good as portfolio of originals.
