Build Ram Mandir or ready to be dethroned in 2019: Sena to BJP

Wednesday, 10 October 2018 | TN RAGHUNATHA | Mumbai

Castigating the BJP for dilly-dallying on the Ram Mandir issue, the ruling Shiv Sena on Tuesday warned the principal ruling party at the Centre of an electoral rout if it failed to fulfil its promise of building Ram temple at Ayodhya.

“Given that the country is being ruled by you, build Ram Mandir now. If you don’t, then the Hindu community will ensure ‘Ram Naam Satya hain’ to your party,” the Sena stated in an editorial published in its official mouth-piece “Saamana”, as it warned the BJP of being ousted from power in the 2019 polls.

Slamming the ruling BJP for its failure to fulfil its promise of building a Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the Sena mouth-piece said: “There is a Government of the BJP with full majority at the Centre.  There are BJP Governments in several States of the country.  You have committed BJP people in posts like President, Prime Minister, Governor and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. What is holding you from building the Ram temple at Ayodhya?”.

“Remember, it was the Sena functionaries who used hammers to demolish Babdri Masjid. Late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray took the responsibility for demolishing Babri Masjid. Now you (BJP) are in the Government. Better build Ram Mandir there. Otherwise, the Hindu community will not keep quiet till they ensure Ram Naam Satya hain for your party,” the Saamana editorial added.

The Sena’s criticism of the BJP for its failure keep its Ram Mandir promise comes less than a week after the Shiv Sena announced its chief Uddhav Thackeray’s plans to visit Ayodhya as part of the party’s intent to expedite the construction of Ram temple there. Uddhav is expected to announce the date of his visit to Ayodhya. At his Dussehra rally.
