The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted searches at seven places in Tamil In connection with the ISIS Coimbatore module case and recovered large number of electronic devices, unaccounted cash and radical Islamic literature.
The searches were conducted by NIA at the residences (three places in Chennai, three in Coimbatore and one in Trivandrum) of seven arrested accused persons.
“During the searches conducted, a large number of digital devices including mobile phones, SIM cards, memory cards, CDs/ DVDs with religious speeches and pen drives besides unaccounted cash, books and publications with incriminating content have been seized from the residences of accused persons,” the NIA said in a statement.
The case was originally registered as FIR No 977/ 2018 at B3 Variety Hall Police Station, Coimbatore City on September 1, 2018, under Sections 143 (Unlawful Assembly) and 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code besides provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against the seven arrested accused persons.
