Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Kathua on Monday witnessed high voltage drama after protesting lawyers under the banner of Bar Association, Kathua made desperate efforts to prevent the crime branch officers to file charge sheet in the Rasana murder and rape case of a minor girl.
As protesting lawyers resisted efforts of Crime Branch officials police had to rush reinforcements to the court premises to restore order ahead of filing of charge sheet.
As protests continued in the court premises the crime branch officials filed their charge sheet facing all odds.
Rape and murder case of a minor girl from Rasana village in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua had made headlines in the month of January 2018.
Since then the entire area is witnessing tension as members belonging to two communities have been divided over the progress of investigations in the case.
While the members belonging to the victims family demanded justice and severe punishment for all the accused arrested so far by the Crime branch. On the other hand the families of accused arrested in the case have been seeking CBI probe in the matter alleging biased approach of crime branch officers from the very beginning.
A total number of eight accused including some policemen,accused of destroying crucial evidence in the case were arrested by the Crime branch.
Even the alliance partners PDP and BJP held divergent view point in the sensitive matter.
Meanwhile, a day bandh call has been issued by the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu along with several socio-political organisations on April 11 seeking high level inquiry by CBI in the Rasana rape and murder case of a minor girl, withdrawal of minutes of the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to review working of the Tribal affairs department and deportation of Rohingyas from Jammu at the earliest.
