Hours after sexual harassment-tainted Sajid Khan took “moral responsibility” and opted out as the director of film “Housefull 4”, senior actor Nana Patekar – facing allegations of sexual harassment from actress Tanushree Dutta – “stepped out” of the film on Friday evening.
In a statement issued on his father’s behalf, Patekar’s son Malhar said: "Nana sahib thought of the convenience of everybody as he wishes the best for the producer and the crew and hence felt that stepping out of the project would be an appropriate thing to do at this point of time"
Earlier in the day, Sajid had announced his decision to step down as the director of “Housefull 4” which is the fourth instalment of the highly-successful Housefull comedy series produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
The lead actor of Housefull 4 Akshay Kumar had thrown his weight behind the victim women in the “Me Too” movement and requested the producers to cancel the shooting of the film, till further investigations into the allegations of sexiual harassment.
“I’ve just landed back in the country last night and reading all the news has been disturbing. I’ve requested the producers of Houseful 4 to cancel the shoot until further investigation. This is something that requires stringent action. I will not work with any proven offenders and all those who have been subjugated to harassment should be heard and given justice they deserve,” Akshay had tweeted.
