Wedding bells, courtesy Bhansali!

So, finally Bollywood’s worst-kept secret is out. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are to get hitched early next month and both of them went on social media to announce their impending nuptials on 14 and 15 November. Congratulatory messages poured in from Bollywood celebs for the couple and social media exploded in (mostly good-humoured but not at all done and pathetic) memes too. We too join everybody and the aunty in congratulating the happy couple.

Bothe of them, however, we are sure will concede they owe a debt to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali who, though no matchmaker we hasten to add, has in a sense played the pivotal role in throwing the power couple together professionally. Deepika and Ranveer first worked together in his magnum opus Ram-Leela and then went on to star in blockbusters Bajirao Mastani and more recently Padmaavat. Unlike Bhansali’s favourite actors from a previous generation, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, who too were in a relationship forged on a Bhansali film but which ended badly, this time the personal and professional relationship between two of Hindi films industry’s most bankable and talented stars is now moving to the next level. Bhansali should definitely get a thank you note and an invite to the wedding ceremony from the couple, we think!
