Among all the drama and feuds, Kanye West is all up for some rebranding. Not in persona though. But name. Known for his controversial persona, Kanye West took to Twitter saying, “The being formally [sic] known as Kanye West..I am YE.” The 41-year-old musician confessed that the name might be more than an abbreviation; it is the most commonly used word in theBible. The word “Ye” in Bible means “you”. Apparently, his eight studio album released this year also had the same name. Name change after achieving career success is not confined to West. There are several recording artists who did so – Snoop Dog had briefly changed his name to Snoop Lion.
The famous rapper has always been in the news for random proclamations, and hence, the latest name change doesn’t shock the world; not to mention we’re talking about the same man who appeared on Saturday Night Live dressed as a giant water bottle. Celebrities switching monikers is no biggy. For instance, in 2013 Jay-Z ditched the hyphen from his name only to reinstate it again four years later. However, the pro-Trump rapper had always recorded under his birth name. This may remind us of West addressing the world as his therapist. Is this cryptic reveal part of therapy too?
