Cranberry: Cranberries are often referred to as a ‘super food.’ Half a cup of cranberries contains only 25 calories.  Cranberries are higher in antioxidants than other fruits and berries. They’re also lower in sugar than many other fruits, with only four grams of natural sugar per cup.

The nutrients in cranberries have been linked to a lower risk of urinary tract infections, prevention of certain types of cancer, improved immune function, and decreased blood pressure. Research has shown that the nutrients in cranberries can help slow tumour progression, and that they can have a positive impact on prostate, liver, breast, ovarian, and colon cancers. Cranberries are high in Vitamin C, Vitamin E and also contain vitamin K, manganese, and a large array of phytonutrients. These are naturally occurring plant chemicals that help to protect the body from harmful free radicals. Continuous consumption of cranberries can slow down the aging process because this fruit is rich in antioxidants.
