Messi claims 5th Golden Shoe

Barcelona: Lionel Messi collected a record fifth Golden Shoe award on Tuesday for finishing last season as the top goalscorer in Europe. The striker scored 34 goals in 68 games for Barcelona, putting him ahead of Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Tottenham's Harry Kane. Cristiano Ronaldo, who has won the award four times, hit 26 goals in 52 matches for Real Madrid. After being prsented with his latest prize in Barcelona, Messi said: "The truth is I had no idea this would happen when I started. I dreamt of playing professional football and enjoying success, I love the game, but I never imagined I would have so much. "I enjoy the work, the effort, I'm at the best team in the world and play with the best team-mates in the world, so everything is easier."

Zaheer is MI Director of Cricket

Mumbai: Three-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians Tuesday appointed former India speedster Zaheer Khan as Director of Cricket Operations. The announcement was made by the franchise on its website. Zaheer was also part of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL seasons 2009, 2010 and 2014. He has 29 wickets to his name from 30 outings for the franchise. Zaheer took to Twitter to share his thoughts and said it was a pleasure to be back with the Mumbai Indians. "Complete pleasure to be back in my home city with the Mumbai Indians squad. Looking forward to be a part of the dressing with @ImRo45 and @mipaltan. Cant wait for the season to start," the former left arm pacer tweeted.

Bengaluru Bulls thrash Titans

Panchkula: Bengaluru Bulls notched a thumping 44-28 victory over Telugu Titans in the southern derby of Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 6. The victory ensured that Bengaluru Bulls have now qualified for the playoffs. Pawan Sehrawat continued his fine form and got another super 10 and top scored with 13 points. It was a soild defensive performance by the Bulls defence as they 12 tackle points. Rahul Chaudhari scored 12 points for Telugu Titans but couldn't muster enough support from his teammates. Titans still remain in the hunt for a place in the playoffs but are under pressure now.

Lazio's winless streak continues

Bergamoi: Lazio are without a victory in their last five matches after losing 1-0 to Atalanta in a Serie A contest where the video assistant referee (VAR) played a decisive role. The Roman side, who came into the match in Bergamo on the back of four consecutive draws, found themselves trailing in the 1st minute after conceding a goal to Atalanta's Duvan Zapata on Monday night. It was the Colombian's fifth goal in three games for the Bergamo club. The visitors continued to press in the second half and appeared to pull level with Francesco Acerbi's goal in stoppage time. But VAR showed that he was offside and the marker was disallowed. Lazio, with 25 points from 16 matches, are fifth in Serie A, a point behind AC Milan, who have a game in hand.
