‘BJP misguiding people on permanent Capital issue’

Saturday, 10 November 2018 | PNS | Dehradun

The State Congress president Pritam Singh has blamed the BJP and the Governments helmed by it for keeping the emotive permanent capital issue of the state to hang fire for years.  In his message on the occasion of the state foundation day, he said that despite being saddled in the seat of power both at the centre and in the state, the saffron party has been taking the people of the state for a ride on the emotive issue of the permanent state capital. Congratulating the people of the state, Singh paid glowing tributes to the martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the formation of a separate state. He said that the people across the societal spectrum had played a monumental  part in the creation of the state.  Besides, those of the Uttarakhand origin settled outside had also played a key role in the statehood moment, he said. The PCC chief further said that the state has seen many ups and downs over the past 18 years of its existence.  “The state faces many challenges now. A lot needs to be done to ensure a secure future for the youth and safety of the women of the state,’’ he said.

Aside from Singh, Congress’s mayoral candidate Dinesh Agarwal and Mahanagar Congress president Lal Chand Sharma among others visited the martyrs’ memorial at the district court premises and offered floral tributes.
