The emotive Ram Mandir issue is turning into a double-edged sword for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Some members of the religious fraternity based in Haridwar have warned that blood would be shed again unless a major initiative is taken for the construction of the temple by November 25. “The same which happened at Ayodhya on the matter in 1992 would repeat if things do not move in the direction of the construction by November 25,” warned Mahamandlaeshwar Swami Sitasharan Das while addressing a press conference in Haridwar on Tuesday. He further said that they were ready to kiss bullets while championing the cause of the long-awaited Mandir. “If it happens again it will be very unfortunate as BJP is now in power both at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh,” he said. He further said, “The saffron party swept to power while promising the temple. We would not brook any further delay and go on full-blown movement if some step is not taken by the Centre or the UP Government by the deadline set,” he added.
Notably, Padmabhushan awardee Swami Satyamitranand Giri, the founder of Bharat Mata Mandir, had announced a few days ago that he would fast unto death from December 6 if the construction of the Ram Temple was not taken up at Ayodhya by then.
