‘Catch Them Young’ promotes entrepreneurship as career choice

The Government of Jharkhand which has taken a step forward to showcase and deliberate various investment opportunities, initiatives and key business reforms carried out by State in the recent past and is working towards creating awareness among investors, entrepreneurs, startups and institutes has yet again come with an innovative venture.

Department of IT & e-Goverance, GoJ and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Innovation Lab in association with the U.S Consulate and banglanatak dot com organized a networking meet in Ranchi on Tuesday at Audrey House to engage young entrepreneurs in different endeavors.

Following the success of the first edition of Youth for Business (Y4BIZ) initiative last year, the U.S Consulate of Kolkata has envisaged the second season of Y4BIZ to focus more on ‘Starting a business when you are in college’.

This year, the concept of ‘Y4BIZ Campus Ambassadors’ has been introduced with a plan to identify motivated students having a capacity to lead ‘Catch them young’ campaign in their respective institutes.

According to the experts, there is a growing recognition of entrepreneurship as an instrument for economic growth. Further the experts opines that the youth entrepreneurship development is a proven strategy that positively impacts the lives of young people, however, entrepreneurship is hardly considered as a first choice for young people in eastern India. 

Taking this into consideration Contact Base (banglanatak dot com) in collaboration with U.S. Consulate has taken the initiative “Catch Them Young”.  The initiative Catch Them Young will reach out to 100,000 youth and their families in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

Stakeholder network in three states with 15 experts from various domains and sectors will facilitate knowledge support to at least 30 Entrepreneurship Development Cells/platforms.

The Campus Ambassador campaign will be looking for motivated college students to lead the initiative “Catch Them Young” in their respective institutes.

The ambassadors will be selected after their online registration. Selected candidates will have an opportunity to learn from experienced faculty, experts, various facets of starting a business, financial and market knowledge.

The ambassadors will hold college meets to influence fellow students to submit business ideas for the “Catch Them Young” Contest. All the campus ambassadors will be awarded a certificate on completion of the campaign. There will be around 50 ambassadors from 25 colleges of Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi with focus on women participation.

According to the organisers, business idea contest will open in mid of 2019. Selected candidates will get an opportunity to attend a boot camp followed by a grand finale where an eminent jury will select few ideas for incubation support.

The event was graced by the presence of Ashutosh Kumar –Professor and EDC Head- BIT Deoghar, Ravi Ranjan-Founder - Startup with Ravi Ranjan, Suman Mukhopadhaya- Director- Bangla Natak Dot Com, Amrit Raj- Headstart Patna, Startups, students from colleges across Jharkhand including Atal Bihari Vajpayee Innovation Lab Team.

The event witnessed addressing the gallery from Suman Mukhopadhaya- Director- Bangla Natak, Amrit Raj- Headstart Patna and Team Atal Bihari Vajpaye Innovation Lab which highlighted the current opportunities available. An informative session was addressed by Professor Ashutosh-EDC Head at BIT Deoghar and Ravi Ranjan-Founder at Startup with Ravi Ranjan.
