‘Cong promise of loan waiver to farmers led to BJP’s defeat’

Friday, 14 December 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

There was a wave of change in favour of Congress party and it resulted in the defeat of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recently held assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, said State BJP President Dharamlal Kaushik on Thursday.

He was speaking to media persons while proceeding for review meeting to be held at National Capital by BJP National President Amit Shah to review party's defeat in three states in assembly elections.

Talking to reporters, Kaushik further said that the main cause of the party’s defeat was the election manifesto of Congress party in which it promised the loan waiver of farmers and power tariff to be slashed to half.

“It certainly changed the mind of farmers and that converted into votes in favour of Congress party, he said.

Kaushik denied that there was any kind of resentment towards BJP and said that people of the state were satisfied with the development works executed by the outgoing government. “It was not resentment towards BJP but the promises made by Congress party which actually resulted into its landslide victory”, he said.
