‘Don’t seek knowledge from social media’

Sunday, 18 November 2018 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The two-day 6th National Children Literature Festival (NCLF) organised by the KiiT International School was inaugurated in the presence of scholar and politician Jairam Ramesh, writer Ruskin Bond and actress Nandita Das on Saturday. The festival’s theme is “Literature and Society”.

Ramesh said, “Dr Achyuta Samanta is the ‘Tagore’ of our times. What Tagore had done in his time by establishing Shantiniketan, Dr Samanta has done the same thing by establishing KISS.”

He advised children to inculcate writing in their age. He said children should not get their knowledge from social media. Students should not make copy or download from internet or Wikipedia. There is no substitute of books.

Nandita Das said children should read more and more stories to develop their writing skill and own thought. In his message KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta said, “Such festivals instil in young minds the enthusiasm for literature. Exposure of this kind goes a long way in all round development of the students.”
