The ongoing strike by blood bank officials at the Lower PMG has severely affected the blood bank service across the State.
Especially, thalassemia and sickle cell patients are the worst sufferers as they need regular and repeated blood transfusion for their survival. Transfusion facility is already affected and the patients are under threat.
While some patients are transfused monthly, some in 15 days, some others in 10 days and some are also transfused every week. Patients’ lives would be in danger if the strike continues for some more days, apprehended Thalassemia Care Society (TCSO) Secretary Nirakar Panda .
He urged the State Government to immediately fulfill the demands of the striking blood bank officials. Blood Bank Employees’ Association president Anil Kumar Mohanty and secretary Ramani Ranjan Gadanayak supported Panda.
