A shooter authorised by the forest department killed a leopard believed to have caused the death of two children in a village near Bageshwar. Earlier this month, the leopard had reportedly lifted a child from the courtyard of his home in the village.
Three days after that incident, a child had a fatal fall into a gully while running in panic to shelter after spotting the big cat.
The department had then taken necessary measures and deputed two shooters to kill the leopard. One of the shooters reached Bageshwar and killed the big cat on Wednesday.
Attempts were made to contact the officials concerned for further details but they could not be contacted till the time of this report being filed.
