‘PM is heartless for Dalits, EWS’

Tuesday, 16 October 2018 | PNS | Datia

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Monday claimed there is no place for the weaker sections and women in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s heart and accused him of keeping mum when Dalits, women, minorities, tribals and the poor are attacked in the country.

“If you are not in a suit-boot you are not his bhai (brother),” the Congress leader told a rally in Datia after visiting the famous Peetambara Peeth, a favourite with politicians of all hues.

Gandhi alleged that the PM suffixes “bhai” to the names of a handful of big industrialists like Nirav (Modi), Mehul (Choksi) even though they have run away with thousands of crores but never shows the same respect for farmers and workers.

Referring to a rape case in which a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao was arrested, Gandhi said, “Modi ji gave the slogan ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. We liked the slogan but then a BJP MLA raped someone. The CM tried to shield him, PM didn’t expel him from the party. He never spoke about it. Actual slogan is ‘Beti Padhao aur Beti ko BJP ke MLA se bachao.”

Raking up the issue of Rafale deal, Gandhi further said, “Anil Ambani has a debt of Rs 45000 cr, yet PM Modi gave him the Rafale deal by taking the deal away from HAL.” He also accused the Prime Minister of stealing employment opportunities from the youth.

“HAL has protected the country for last 70 years by manufacturing various fighter aircrafts. But Modi govt snatched the Rafale deal from HAL and gave it to Anil Ambani who had no experience,” asserted the Congress president.

Gandhi claimed that he had urged PM to waive off loans of farmers but he remained silent. “I have personally appealed to PM Modi to waive off loans of farmers. Earlier, farmers used to get bonus or compensation for crop loss. But PM was silent,” said Gandhi.

“During UPA government, loans worth Rs 70,000cr of farmers were waived off. Whereas Narendra Modi govt in last 4 years waived off loans worth Rs 3,50,000Cr of only 15-20 rich industrialists,” the Congress chief asserted.
