1 dies, 6 hurt in ambulance mishap in B’swar

In a tragic road mishap on Friday, an attendant of a patient died on the spot and six others, including the driver and a pharmacist of an ambulance, sustained injuries after the ambulance carrying a patient rammed into a stationary truck from behind on NH-60 near Haladipada.

The deceased was identified as Santilata Mitra. She was accompanying the patient in the ambulance.

The incident took place at around 6 am when the ambulance carrying heart patient, Rajesh Mitra, from Hasimpur village under Baliapal police limits was going to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Baleswar.

The injured were rushed to the DHH but later, ambulance driver Sashikant Mahanta  and another injured Biswajit Mishra were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their conditions worsened.
