At least 10,000 girls from Odisha would be trained as drivers and helpers so that they can be employed as delivery girls for E-commerce within two-three years.
Women and Child Development Secretary Anu Garg stated this to mediapersons after a session on women entrepreneurs held at the 'Make In Odisha Conclave here.
“We have received proposals in this regard. We are presently reviewing these proposals to implement to develop women entrepreneurship and making our women selfemployment,” said Garg.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Hey Deedee MD Revathi Roy expressed her interest to work in Odisha. “Our aim is to provide employment to 1lakh girls to develop them as delivery women in fast growing E-commerce industry and, of them, 10,000 girls from Odisha will be trained as skilled workers for market ready e-commerce business,” she said.
She further asserted that these women, when given employment, would be self-reliant. “Currently we are a Rs 2-crore turn over company with 350 employees and 50,000 girls are undergoing training with us,” Roy mentioned.
While elaborating her future plan, Roy said her firm is presently working in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bengaluru, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
