A team of 15th Finance Commission led by its chairman N K Singh arrived on a three-day tour of the State on Monday. The team consisting of members Shakti Kant Dass, Anoop Singh, Ashok Lahiri and Ramesh Chand aside from the chairman met the representatives of various political parties, former members of the urban local bodies and members of the three-tier panchayati raj system and took feedbacks and compiled their suggestion soon after their arrival .
The chairman of the commission said that the suggestions of the political parties and the representatives of local bodies would be seriously considered by the commission.
The observers said that the visit of the team is important as the term of the 15th finance commission is starting from 2020 and based on the understanding of the needs and financial position of the State, the commission would take a decision on the volume of the central grants and fix the share of the Union Government on developmental projects.
The commission would meet the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and the Finance Minster Prakash Pant and representatives of the industry on Tuesday. On Wednesday the team of the commission would go to Nainital where it would take feedback from the representatives of the tourism industry, the State Government officials said.
The Chief Minister hosted a dinner for the team at his residence in the evening on the day.
