2 killed in pile-up involving bus, 8 vehicles

Two people died and three  injured after a bus lost control and rammed into four buses, two auto-rickshaws, and two motor bikes on Monday. The accident took place at around 3:30 pm near Ramprashtha red light in Vivek Vihar area of East Delhi.

According to a senior police official, a police control room (PCR) call was received at Vivek Vihar Police Station about the accident. Two people Satish Kumar (50) and Rupender Kumar (38) lost their lives in the accident whereas Poonam (50), Narendra (42) and Vinod (47) were injured.

“Satish Kumar was driver with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Rupender Kumar was Conductor with the DTC. The bodies have been taken for post-mortem,” said the senior police official.

The injured were rushed to GTB Hospital, police said, adding that the matter is being investigated. “The driver of the bus which rammed into the people and vehicles is absconding.
