Dengue spreading fast its wings, 23 suspected cases have recently been confirmed, post Eliza test. Earlier, 20 patients had been tested positive through the confirmatory tests. With most of the cases reported from the slum areas and Laksar, fear has gripped the holy city.

Alarmed over the spread of the dreaded vector-borne disease, the district health authorities have intensified fogging in the slum areas and the villages. In all, 118 suspected dengue cases have surfaced in the district so far this year, the health department officers said.

Meanwhile, Divya Pharmacy, run by yoga guru Swami Ramdev, has launched a medicine named Dengueneil Vati which is claimed to keep the people safe from the disease.

It is learnt that after ten people from Padli village of Gujjar Basti complained of fever they had been taken to the district hospital and following the rapid test, they had tested positive for dengue.

The district Malaria officer Dr Gurnam Singh said, “We have sent the blood samples of the patients for ELISA test. Out of 41 patients who underwent Elisa test earlier, 18 were reported negative.

We are launching awareness campaign among the people to help them keep the disease away by keeping their surroundings clean. The rain water should not be allowed to accumulate at any place under any circumstances.”
