A 26-year-old youth was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon at Old Subhash Nagar area under Aishbagh police station area on Monday.
Police said that an injured youth was rushed to a nearby hospital after he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon near a tea stall at Old Subhash Nagar area.
The Investigating Officer ASI Daulat Singh said that the victim Suraj Bairathi was contacted by the accused Pankaj Solanki to attend a religious feast after the end of the Ganesh festival and when the victim went to attend the programme the victim and accused had a fight over some issue and later victim was attacked with a sharp edged weapon in his neck.
The victim was rushed to Hamidia hospital where after the treatment he was released. The victim is preparing for competitive examinations. The past records of the accused and details of both the accused and victim would be searched, he added.
The police have registered a case under sections 307, 506 and 34 of the IPC and started search for the accused who went absconding after the attack.
Police said that the family members and friends of the accused would be questioned regarding the whereabouts of the accused. The reason behind the fight remains unclear and would be investigated in the further investigation.
The victim and accused are acquainted and when the victim came at the spot he was attacked by the accused with a sharp edged weapon and in a bid to save himself he sustained injury in his neck.
