300 medical practitioners attend Cardicon’ 18 meet

A conference of Cardicon -2018 was orgnaised at the Usha Kiran Palace Hotel on Monday. The conference was jointly organized by the Indian Medical Association, RJN Apollo Heart Command Centre and Dalmia Heart and Wellness Centre was held to enhance awareness about prevention, early diagnosis and appropriate public management strategies in the field of cardiology.

About 300 medical practitioners from the Gwalior Chambal area attended the conference. The participants were given enhanced knowledge about the latest technological innovations in the field of medicine that will shape the healthcare of the patients. The medical practitioners were also given advices on key medical issues like patient care, medical negligence, consumer cases and dealing with false cases.

Dr Ravishankar Dalmia, President of the Gwalior Chapter of Indian Medical Association during his presidential address said that the conference is held with a view to update medical knowledge, especially in the field of cardiology.  He also said that the 350 delegates attending the conference from various areas of the Division should use the tips they get here in their professional pursuit.

Dr Tushar Roy, Senior Cardiologist, National Heart Institute, New Delhi said that there are several medico legal issues that are to be taken care of. He added that the doctor-patient trust has deteriorated in recent times. Trust in doctors has come down dramatically in the past decade. He advised the doctors to be fully aware of the medico legal issues and about steps to be taken if and when cases are leveled against them.

He also gave details about the Doctors Protection Act and said that medical practitioners are fully protected under this act. There is provision in the act to give severe punishments to such assailants who misbehave with the doctors. He exhorted the doctors to take life saving decisions without any fear.
