A New Year celebration plan of four robbers for Manali was ruined after they were arrested by the Delhi Police on Thursday for allegedly robbing a Domino’s pizza restaurant at gunpoint in Nangloi. 

“The four robbers arrested were identified as Sonu (20), Banty (18), Sumit (23) and Sachin (22). Two of the robbers are members of Neeraj Bhawana gang One country made pistol along with two live cartridges, robbed money Rs 1,03,500 in cash, expensive shoes, outfits and mobile phones purchased from the robbed money and one motorcycle used in commission of the robbery was recovered,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Seju P Kuruvilla.

According to police on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, police were informed by the staffs of the pizza chain situated at main Rohtak Road, Nangloi in Outer district, that four armed robbers robbed the restaurant of Rs 1,50,800. A case under appropriate sections was registered at Nangloi police station.

During investigation, police revealed that all the employees working in the robbed Domino’s chain were interrogated and their call details analyzed.

“On the basis of this, Sonu working as a sweeper at Domino’s Pizza Restaurant was noticed to be suspicious. His mobile phone was scanned but his phone record was found deleted. During sustained interrogation, he admitted that at his instance his friend Banty along with two other friends Sachin and Sumit committed the robbery in Domino’s Pizza Restaurant,” said the DCP. 

Police team laid a trap and apprehended Banty and recovered Rs 36,000 cash, shoes and clothes from his possession. Two others Sachin and Sumit were also arrested.

Subsequently on their interrogation, it was found that they were planning to go to Manali for New Year celebration, police said.

“During investigation, it was found that Sonu and Banty plotted the conspiracy to rob Domino’s Pizza Restaurant in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday as cash of sale of previous two days is deposited in the bank on Monday. Sonu handed the spare key to the Restaurant to Banty and by using the spare key Banty along with his two associates Sachin and Sumit entered the Pizza Restaurant and robbed them,” said the DCP.
