42 businessmen safely return home from Hongkong

A team of 42 businessmen who went on a tour of Macau and Hongkong and trapped in the typhoon Mangkhut finally returned home. Earlier the team was to catch the flight to Calcutta on Sunday evening. But as all essential services came to a standstill due to Mangkhut, the Honkong International Airport was also shut temporarily.  All these 42 were from different parts of Jharkhand and  Odisha.

Ravi Ranjan Singh, one of the businessmen who was part of this team, said after reaching Calcutta this morning that they reached Macau on September 12 and finally reached Hongkong on September 14. He said they visited various tourist spots of Hongkong and then they were finally ready to take a flight on Sunday evening.

He recalled how climate of Hongkong all sudden changed with Mangkhut forced them to stay indoors. “We were in Hotel Hongkong Gold Coast and soon got information that all essential services were shut down temporarily. The government even issued orders for all to remain indoors. Even Honkong international airport known as a central transit point for much of Asia was also closed on Sunday seeing the typhoon threat,” he said.

Singh said all of them at first contacted their families and told them that they all were safe. He said on Monday, climate returned to normalcy and so they caught a flight at 7:30 for Delhi. He said at Monday midnight around 12:30, they reached to Delhi. From Delhi, six out of 42 persons got the flight to Calcutta at 2:30A.M. He said he and other six finally took the flight at 7:30.

Singh and other six persons caught flight to Ranchi in the afternoon. Finally, after reaching Ranchi, Singh heaved a sigh of relief. But said he and others were surprised to see the way Hongkong faced the typhoons. They knew well how to face the natural calamities, added Ravi. He said once typhoon entered

Hongkong, hotel management asked them not to get frightened. He said

hotel circulated the notice that they will provide all facilities as usual to their guests.
