AIIMS first hospital in Delhi to espouse Ayushman

Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Health Agency (NHA), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has become the first hospital in Delhi to become a part of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana- National Health Insurance Scheme. Earlier, speculations of Safdarjung of doing it early were also made. 

“In accordance with the provisions of the scheme, AIIMS will provide all diagnostic and therapeutic facilities to the entitled beneficiary patients admitted in the hospital, as per approved packages,” said Dr Aarti Vij, AIIMS spokesperson.

The MoU was signed between AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria and NHA Deputy CEO Dinesh Arora on Tuesday.

“AIIMS will provide all diagnostic and therapeutic facilities to the entitled beneficiary patients admitted in the hospital as per approved packages,” said Dr Vij.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi  on Sunday rolled out the Centre's flagship Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) from Jharkhand. The launch of the scheme on September 25 was announced by PM on August 15 of this year.

The scheme focuses on providing coverage of Rs five lakh per family annually, which will benefit more than 10 crore poor families for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation. The scheme will provide cashless and paperless access to services for the beneficiary at the point of service. In case of hospitalisation, members of the beneficiary families do not need to pay anything under the scheme provided one goes to a government or an empanelled private hospital.
