Auto-rickshaw driver shot at; survives

A 21-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was shot in his right leg at Congress Nagar under Teelajamalpura police station area on Saturday. The victim escaped with injuries.

Sensation prevailed in the area after victim was shot and he was rushed to hospital where he was referred to Hamidia hospital for further treatment. Police said that pellets were removed from the leg which proved that the claims of the victim were true. Victim refused of any old enmity or dispute in the area.

The victim in his complaint stated that he was taking over phone and after hearing the sound of bullets he felt pain and spotted blood oozing out from the leg. He was rushed to Hamidia hospital where his condition is reportedly stable.

The police have registered a case under section 307 of the IPC and started further investigation. The victim is a resident of Qazi Camp and work as auto-rickshaw driver. Victim told police that he was driving and talking over mobile phone he failed to determine from where he was attacked.

Teelajamalpura police do not have crime record of the victim and possibly he might have any crime record with Hanumanganj police which would be investigated.
