The Bargarh police on Saturday arrested one Sudansu Padhi (60), owner of a private ladies’ hostel in Bargarh town, on the charge of sexually assaulting an inmate on Friday night. According to information, Sudhansu was rushed to the VIMSAR, Burla as he felt chest pain soon after detention. He is now in hospital and arrested, said IIC Bibhutibhusan Bhoi.
According to the complaint, Padhi called a Plus Two student to store room of the hostel and touched her inappropriately. More than 40 Plus Two and Plus Three girls were staying in his hostel.
The matter came to the fore after the victim with her classmates lodged a complaint and submitted a video in the police station.
Sources said SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamu has formed a committee to deal with all sexual exploitation incidents at ladies hostels across the district. More than 40 private ladies hostel are running without women warden in Bargarh District, said sources.
