The AirAsia flight services from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok began with 165 passengers boarded from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Thursday night.
The AirAsia flight carrying 28 flyers from Bangkok received a warm welcome from the BPIA authorities with a water cannon salute for the inaugural flight services from Bhubaneswar to an international destination. The Bangkok-Bhubaneswar flight landed at the BPIA at 11.35 pm.
The passengers who were to board the AirAsia flight from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok was given a customary welcome at the airport before takeoff at 12.25 am.
State Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda flagged off the flight. The Bhubaneswar-Bangkok AirAsia flights will be operated for three days a week. The carrier FD-113 will fly to Bangkok at 12.25 am on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday and reach the destination at 4.30 am (according to Bangkok time).
Similarly, the flight FD-112 will take off from Bangkok at 10.35 pm (as per Bangkok time) and arrive at 11.55 pm in Bhubaneswar.
In a bid to attract the Odisha passengers, the AirAsia has provided 20% off on the flight tickets for the first three days. In this regard, a stall was set up at the shopping mall Esplanade from Friday to Sunday. The passengers, who will purchase tickets from this stall, would avail the 20% discount.
