Bhupesh Baghel to take oath as CM today

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupesh Baghel after being elected as Congress Legislative Party reached Raj Bhavan on Saturday evening and staked claim to form the next Government.

He was accompanied by senior Congress leaders including TS Singhdeo. Secretary to Governor Surendra Kumar Jaiswal accepted the letter.

Governor Anandiben Patel has invited Baghel him to form the new government and extended invitation to take oath of office and secrecy as Chief Minister on December 17 at 4.30 pm at Science College Ground, Raipur.

During afternoon hours, in the Congress Legislature Party meeting held at Rajiv Bhawan, state Congress headquarters, in Raipur capital city, Baghel was elected as CLP leader unanimously.

After the formal election process, Baghel accompanied by senior Congress leaders T S Singhdeo, Ravindra Choubey, Shiv Dahariya, Kawasi Lakhma, Amitesh Shukla, Mohammed Akbar and others reached Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form the government.

While handing over the letter addressed to Governor, Baghel told reporters while recalling his frequent visit to the Governor house in recent times, “circumstances have changed. We have arrived today with claim to form the government. Earlier, I was used to visit here for handing over letters regarding several demands for the people.”

Meanwhile, state administration has fast-tracked process for making all arrangements for oath-taking ceremony in which several key opposition leaders at national level are expected to grace the occasion.  Congress president Rahul Gandhi will also attend the function.
