Four collection agent of a private firm were robbed of Rs 39 lakh at gunpoint by unidentified bike-borne assailants on Wednesday morning at Delhi’s Ranjeet Nagar in Central Delhi.
According to a senior police official, the incident occurred around 11 am on Wednesday when the collection agents Arshad (44), Praveen (45), Anil Kumar (27) and Bhupinder Sharma (29) of Giri associates were on their way to office located in Ranjit Nagar after collecting around Rs 39lakh.
“When they were near Madhav Setu in Ranjeet Nagar area, the robbers astride on bikes waylaid their white WangorR and forced them to stop.
“They fired on car and took the bag filled with Rs 39 lakh and fled the spot on their bike firing with their weapon in the air,” said the police official.
“On the basis of a complaint given by the victims, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under section 392/397/34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 27/54/59 Arms Act at Ranjeet Nagar Police Station. There are no CCTV cameras installed where the robbery took place. It appears that the criminals knew the movement of the cash and they had surveyed the area before as they struck in an area where there was no CCTV coverage.
However a police teams has been detailed to scan the CCTV grab for the nearby areas,” said Amit Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central district.
“The employees of Giri associates are also being questioned to ascertain whether they had divulged their plans of ferrying the cash to their acquaintances.
There are certain leads in this regard and police teams are working on the same,” said the police official probing the case.
