BJP bets on youth, women for 4th term

STBJP which is power in Chhattisgarh for past 15 years, on Saturday announced its first list of candidates for 77 out of State’s total 90 seats.

BJP has rewarded its young leaders and announced 25 candidates in the first list who have age below 40 years. 

Union Health Minister JP Nadda released the list of candidates in New Delhi soon after the BJP’s Central Election Committee approved the names.

BJP dropped Women and Child development minister Ramshila Sahu. Party has fielded a former young IAS officer OP Choudhury from Congress bastion Kharasia seat in Raigarh district.

Overall, 14 women candidates found their names in the first list of 77 candidates. Party has announced candidates for 17 seats out the total 18 seats that go to polls in the first phase on November 12.

Chief Minister Raman Singh will contest from his safe seat Rajnandgaon while BJP state president Dharamlal Kaushik will fight from Bilha seat from Bilaspur district.
