BJP leaders’ kin get nominations

Friday, 09 November 2018 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

The BJP on Thursday nominated veteran leader Babulal Gaur’s daughter-in-law Krishna from Govindpura and party gen secretary Kaialsh Vijayvargiya’s son Akash from Indore-3 seat.

Ajit Borasi, son of Congress MP Premchand Guddu who switched over to BJP with son days ago, has been given ticket from Ghattiya, the candidature for which the party had rolled back after announcement of first list.

Besides, the BJP discarded candidature of Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s son Mandar from Indore and union minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s son Devendra from Gwalior. Both the party seniors were lobbying hard for ticket for their sons.

News18 on Tuesday had reported that following intervention from party high command, ten-time MLA from Govindpura Babulal Gaur had backtracked over demand for ticket

But his daughter-in-law was in contention. Gaur was earlier rewarded with a place in star campaigners for his ‘sacrifice’.

Despite party’s aversion to Gaurs, it was rumored that the party might not pull it off if both Gaur and his daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur are denied ticket.

Under pressure to win, the party has fielded former Health minister Ajay Vishnoi from Patan.

In Indore, former minister Kailash Vijayvargiya managed to get ticket for his son Akash from Indore-3 and not Indore-2 as suggested by Vijayvargiya in his statement on Wednesday. The BJP general secretary had claimed that his Ramesh Mendola, his close aide, had agreed to voluntarily leave his seat Indore-2 in favour of his son.

The ticket however has came at a cost for Vijayvargiya as the party has given his seat Mhow to Indore-3 MLA Usha Thakur. Sitting MLAs Indore-1 Sudarshan Gupta, Depalpur Manoj Patel, Mahendra Hardia Indore -5, Malini Gaur Indore-4 and Indore-2 Ramesh Mendola have been re-nominated by the party.

Sitting MLA Jitu Jirati from Rau has been denied ticket and party has fielded former Indore Development Authority chairman Madhu Verma while sitting MLA Sanwer Rajesh Sonkar has received a re-nomination.

Chaudhary Rakesh Singh who had earlier defected to BJP from Congress as Leader of Opposition has been fielded from Bhind. Chaudhary in July 2013 had stunned his party Congress and joined BJP after hitting out at no confidence motion brought by his party against CM Shivraj inside assembly.

However, his brother and sitting MLA Mukesh Chaturvedi has been denied ticket from Mehgaon.
